This is often called retrieval-augmented generation (RAG): the system first finds the passages in your documents that match the question, then a large language model (LLM), the kind of model behind tools such as ChatGPT, writes the answer from those passages and cites them.

We don’t publish prices, because every project is quoted for its own scope. You receive a written quote before any work starts. It depends on:

- How much preparation your documents and data need
- The systems it connects to
- Where it is hosted and which AI model it runs on
- The testing, human review and security the work calls for

How the answers are kept accurate
- Answers come from your approved documents and systems, with sources people can check.
- Before release, the system is tested against a set of real example questions, rerun whenever the prompt, model or data changes.
- Low-confidence answers go to a person, and important decisions need human approval.
- Language models can still make confident mistakes; testing shows how often and where, before anyone relies on it.
Security, permissions and data protection
- Assistants and automations act only where they are allowed to, and hand over when they are unsure.
- Data minimisation, lawful basis and retention are agreed before a model sees any records, under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR where it applies.
- UK or EU hosting is available where data residency matters.
- Running costs per request are tracked from the first release.

We recommend a model on evidence from your own test set, not on a brand, and can use open-weight models where private hosting is preferred.

What happens after I send an enquiry?
A person on our team reads it and replies by email to arrange a short call. You then receive a proposed scope and a written quote to review before you commit to anything.
How much does an AI project cost?
Every project is quoted for its own scope, so we don’t publish prices. The quote depends on how many tasks and users the first version serves, how much preparation your documents and data need, the systems it connects to, hosting and model choices, and the testing and security the work calls for. You receive a written quote before any work starts.
Do I need a technical specification?
No. One or two sentences about the problem is enough to start. We help turn it into a clear scope during a short discovery, and we explain any technical choices in plain terms.
Do you work with businesses outside the UK?
Yes. Krapton IT Consultancy Ltd is a UK-registered company, and engineering is delivered remotely by Krapton’s international team. We work with clients in several countries and welcome enquiries from across the UK and Europe. Calls are held online at times that suit your working hours.
Do we need our own data to start?
You need examples of the work: the documents, questions or records the AI will handle and what a good result looks like. We help you put that together during discovery, and it becomes the test set the project is measured against.
Can you add AI to software we already use?
Yes. Many projects connect AI to existing tools, such as a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace document store, a CRM, a help desk, an internal database or your own web application. We build the connection, the permissions and what happens when the AI cannot answer.
How do you handle data protection?
We design for data minimisation, a documented lawful basis, retention limits and access controls under the UK GDPR, and the EU GDPR where it applies. Models and data can be hosted in UK or EU regions where residency matters. Your data protection lead stays involved in the decisions; our build does not replace your own compliance assessment.
Who owns the software you build?
You do. The code, accounts and documentation are in your name, so your team, or ours on a support agreement, can run and extend the work after launch.
